Santa Cruz la Vieja is a unique site for understanding the history of the conquest of South America.
During a stroll through a shady copse, you discover an archeological and historical site of major importance.
Founded by Captain Ñuflo de Chavez on 26 February 1561, it became the regional capital under the name of Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
Between 1596 and 1604, the name of Santa Cruz de la Sierra passed to the new regional capital created between the Rio Grande and the foothills of the Andes.
